There was a time in my life where I was desperate to find out what in the hell was wrong with me so that I could stop checking out or freaking out on a daily basis. So I went to my doctor, therapists and eventually a psychiatrist to finally figure it out.
Here’s what I can tell you about going down that path: I ended up with a whole bunch of shame, some medication that made me a walking zombie, and hours of therapy. What I didn’t get was a solution. Here’s what I did figure out: The missing piece was learning how to love myself. When I learned how to accept, appreciate and be there for myself, my whole life changed.
